It’s A Wonderful World – An Expansion that Went Further and Beyond

The empires has grow, now there will be 7 empires that compete in hegemony in this dystopian future.

Science rapidly grow but society now know corruption. Do you have the knowledge to fight over once again to achieve hegemony?

The expansion mainly contains cards that focus on elevating the experience in the game.

I won’t cover much detail of the cards but i will share my feeling experience with this expansion.

Beside the new cards there is 1 new tweak in setup before playing. Player will have to combine a certain amount of cards between the base card and expansion depends on the number of players.

With this new setup player will have a chance to use the expansion in each turn and not diluting too much the amount of card in base game.

The 1st type of cards are what we may call “Master Project” this is similar as project cards in base game that usually net you 10 points, the difference is this card will give you 25 points but with extreme cost to build it.

In my current play sometimes this will be a game changer but most of the time it will only become a fodder especially in the 1st round.

But if it show in 3rd round or 4th round then it will have higher chance that it will become priorities either to drafted or if to be cut depending whose probably has more chance fulfill its cost.

The 2nd type are “Pair Scoring”, this card cost is similar to “Master Project” but with the reward is variable depends on the fulfillment requirement.

Each of this card have unique requirement that can shape your drafting purpose. If your build or production matches the requirement it will shoot your points up in the sky.

Once, i was able to produce 60 points from this “Pair Scoring” card alone by building 5 yellow and 5 blue building.

Unlike “Master Project” if this showed in the 1st round, sometimes i took a chance to draft and then build around its requirement

The 3rd type are cards that contain “Corruption” , the card will reduce production 1 of your resource but comes with greater compensation either by produce more or produce a higher resources.

This is really game changer in my opinion because sometimes when we drafted we may miscalculated or drafted the same type of card with opponent, but with this card we may have a chance to pivoted or sometimes elevate current production to meet demand

And lastly the 4th are other cards that synchonize with the base game that produce a lot of resource or just unique resources.

Beside cards we also get some new items, such as : a large scoring mat with its dry erase marker, triple financier tokens and triple general tokens. For a couple of first game the scoring mat is really useful to count the end game points. While the triple financier/general not so useful because usually we only play in 2 players game.

After several play with the expansion and sometimes mixing with the card from the campaign, now we always choose the starting empire card that given 5 krystallium at the beginning of the game. Beside the same initial condition between players, it also gives us freedom to choose which will be our initial production after seeing all the cards in the 1st round. Sometimes we don’t choose the usual path with that starting path with Materials and Energy, instead we choose more divergent path and hoping to run across the magnificent quartet : “Consortium”, “Robot Factory”, “Krystallium Power Plant”, or “Mobile Base” to jumpstart the production from the 1st round. To us the expansion is a great addition to the base game that we usually played, and we won’t play without it. It really drive us to think further ahead and now our end game points usually above 100 points. If there will be an expansion, we hope that it won’t change the game much and there will be impactful green cards to elevate the game more.
